Art is said to be a "skill that provides artist and public with an experience of beauty" but I would add the rider that art must also be something that a person can relate to. Born to a farming family in Co. Clare, I grew up with a deep respect and love for my rural setting. I experienced all the old ways- cutting the turf, saving the hay, tilling the land and selling the cattle at the fair day. These experiences have influenced my painting. In recalling times past I hope that my use of colour and texture leave you with the good feeling of romantism and nostalgia.
"If you are searching for spirituality there is nothing more awesome than a glimpse of nature and if I was painting for a thousand years, I would have but a cameo of that beauty".
